And what's more he cares about us with an intensity that's shocking. It's always been this way, too—I mean every one of his myths that involve conflict (and there's a lot of them!) are because he's coming to the defense of his followers. You can talk trash about Dionysos all you want—even to his face like Pentheus—and he'll just laugh it off. But you threaten one of his or try to stop people from worshiping as their heart compels them—and he'll tear you apart with a ferocious and merciless savagery. You know that old saying "You mess with the bull, you get the horns"—well that's Dionysos they're talking about!
