The debate over marriage equality has always been a divisive issue.
For many religious institutions which believe that queer sexuality violates God's norms and jeopardizes the family, gay marriage threatens their religious freedom. For lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender individuals, denying access to the protection and status that marriage affords violates their civil rights and excludes them from full participation in society. Here we ask the question: does the struggle for LGBTQ equality threaten religious freedom?
