Someday, I promise that I’ll share my own thoughts again…

...But today, I will once again be sharing someone else's work. Today's post features a video on the differences between men's and women's brain and is, of course, not as substantial as last week's list of Scripture quotes on parenting. However, it is very funny and I just had to share :) I feel pretty good about sharing this video for a couple of reasons: first, a great priest shared it with us on a marriage renewal mini-retreat this weekend, and second, I do feel that there is some truth to … [Read more...]

Kiddy Catechesis-Our Lady of Guadalupe

Introducing Holly, MaryAlice's oldest daughter and my Goddaughter. We took this video footage at the conclusion of my son's recent birthday party. The party involved a lot of bouncing and an intense game of dodge ball, so please excuse Holly's adorably flushed face. Enjoy! … [Read more...]

Lessons to Myself

With the one who taught me how to be a mother. In a mere 7 days, we will be celebrating our son's birthday.  His sixth birthday.  Birthdays are joyous occasions, no doubt, but it is this birthday, the birthday of our oldest child, that always hits me like a load of bricks every year.  It is a birthday that marks my beginning of motherhood and how long I've been in this treasured role.  It is a birthday that summarizes all the years, days, hours, minutes, and seconds of love, sweat, tears, whin … [Read more...]

Praying for all those at the March for Life today.

How grateful we must be to God for this wonderful gift that brings such joy to the whole world, women and men alike! Yet we can destroy this gift of motherhood, especially by the evil of abortion, but also by thinking that other things like jobs or positions are more important than loving, than giving oneself to others. No job, no plans, no possessions, no … [Read more...]

Scriptures for Parenting

Good morning, friends! After a weekend away, I am having a hard time clearing my head enough to write a coherent post! So, once again, I will be sharing someone else's work :) This time, the "someone else" is God's Word - what better way to begin the week?!Here are some Scripture verses related to parenting, but please feel free to add others in the comments section - we can use all of the wisdom that we can get as we shepherd the little souls that God has entrusted us with!"Children, obey … [Read more...]

Confessions of a Delinquent

AWOL was at our house for Thanksgiving; her default position is on the couch reading to her children, and even her energetic 3 year old boy sits still. MaryAlice’s kids ask me to read to them every time I’m over for as far back as I can remember knowing them. Red always brings books along, even away from home to settle her kids in the evening or at hyper times, and they settle in and listen. It’s no secret that Texas Mommy is the read-aloud queen. Kat has the patient and peaceful temperament to r … [Read more...]

Thoughts for Thursday

What am I cooking? Roasted chicken, mixed vegetables, and potatoes. What am I reading? Still working through Interior Castle by St. Teresa of Avila and Jesus of Nazareth by Pope Benedict. What are my weekend plans? Dinner in the city with my sister and her husband.  My sister just arrived yesterday for an extended visit.  She and her husband are helping my parents in the family business, and they will stay in town for at least a month, possibly longer.  We are taking her to dinner in Philly at … [Read more...]
