Many of you may know that we are  a homeschooling family. I jokingly say that my wife Laura is the teacher and I’m simply the financial backer. Today I step aside and let the teacher tell you about an exciting new release from Tan Books. Here is Laura’s preview.

It’s that time of year again for those of us who homeschool – looking ahead to the next school year’s curriculum!!  The time of year for homeschool conventions and scanning through hundreds of books hoping to find just the right ones to fit our needs.  The time of year for the anticipation of the school year to come.

With that I’d like to share a wonderful history series that will be ready to be released in June – Story of Civilization: Volume I by Phillip Campbell published by TAN books.  It is volume one of what will be a four volume series with a volume being released each summer for the next four years.  For those of you who are familiar with TAN’s Story of the Bible series, this series also uses the “Schoolhouse Model” so kids from 1st-8th grade can use this together.  The product line includes: the textbook, textbook on CD, activity book, teacher’s manual, test book, and video lectures.

The author’s name may sound familiar to some homeschoolers being that he teaches history for the St. Augustine Homeschool Enrichment Program, as well as, history for Homeschool Connections.  Our family uses Homeschool Connections and our children always love Mr. Campbell’s classes!  So I was very excited to see that he authored this series.

I’ve had the pleasure of previewing the text book, test book, and video lecture #1.  I’m loving what I am seeing and now plan to use this book next school year for my children.  I will be looking at all the products closer and will do a more thorough review nearer to its release date.  In the meantime, check out all the details of this volume on TAN’s website.
