Christ at the Checkpoint Conference in Bethlehem

I’m a firm believer that more needs to be done to make  evangelical churches aware of the plight of Arab Christians in the Middle East, esp. those in Palestine (see my review of The Jerusalem Testament). A few weeks ago a group of lecturers and pastors in Brisbane had lunch with Ellie Hadad the president of the Arab Baptist Theological Seminary in Lebanon which was very illuminating, some big things happening there. Also,  Joel Watts points to a cool conference called Christ at the Checkpoint to be held in Bethlehem in March 2012.

The speakers lined up include Chris Wright, Gary Burge, Tony Campolo, Ron Sider, John Ortberg, and many others.

There is even a blogging contest where you can win a VIP pass, books, DVDs,  or an iPod touch by promoting the conference. There is also a student delegation going as well. Here is an introductory video:

There are other videos on the site by Lynn Hybels, Shane Clairborne, and Stephen Sizer who also will be speaking there. Well worth checking out, would be an amazing conference to go to!
