Michael Bird American Speaking Engagements in February 2013

Week after next I’m off to the good old USA to get my fix of Chik-Fil-A and Bible geek fellowship.

I’m especially honoured to have been invited to deliver the 2013 David Jones Lectures at Covenant Theological Seminary in St. Louis. It’ll be great to get my Presbyterian back on after my recent Anglicanization. I’ll be delivering three lectures about the importance of the Gospels for the Reformed Faith. I have no idea if these are public lectures open to all and sundry. You’d have to check with CTS.

Then I’m off to the Big Easy, going to New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary, to participate in The 2013 Greer-Heard Point-Counterpoint Forum on The Bible and Sex. Plenary speakers are Ben Witherington and Jennifer Knust (with Michael Bird, Dale Martin, Stephen Moore, and Sandra Richter). I’m esp. looking forward to getting a tour of the Haggard Center for New Testament Textual Studies.

So hope to see some of you folks out there yanky doodle side in mid-Feb!

It used to be, when I was still at CTS, they sold Chic-Fil-A on campus every Wednesday! That is when you are there I think. And I’m pretty sure you have Tuesday Chapel, that is open to everyone.
I will be there, see you in a week or so.

The Bible and Sex. Do we have to choose? I like them both.

I know the schedule for your trip was tight, and traveling around the world is no mean task, but inspite of that, your lectures this past week were great.. We really appreciated having you at CTS this past week and wish you save travels back to Oz.
