A Song for a Snowy Palm Sunday

A Song for a Snowy Palm Sunday March 24, 2013

You can sing this to the tune of “I Believe in Father Christmas” by Greg Lake (there are also versions by Emerson, Lake, and Palmer and also by U2 that you may be familiar with):

I Believe in Snow at Easter

They said there’ll be snow at Easter

And snow on Palm Sunday too

At this moment I hear it falling

And there’s nothing that I can do

I remember Palm Sunday morning

In a springtime not long ago

With the peal of a bell and an Easter egg shell

And no need to be shoveling snow

They sold me a dream of Easter

They sold me a freezing night

I listened to the weather report

’till I believed its a blizzard alright

And I dreamed of the Easter bunny

And I envied his furry suit

’till I woke with a yawn in the first light of dawn

And dug out my old winter boots

I wish you a hopeful Easter

And a brave Palm Sunday too

May all snow plows and salters

Leave their garages early

and let your road be clear

They said there’ll be snow at Easter

Icy conditions throughout the week

Hosanna again, so stay warm now my friend

The Palm Sunday you get will be bleak
