The Burial of Jesus

Due to some sort of glitch on Amazon.com, my ebook The Burial of Jesus: What Does History Have to Do with Faith? (Patheos Press, 2012) was not available for purchase. I am not sure how long this was the case, but I thought I should announce here that it is available again, still at the low price of $2.99. It is also available in Nook format.

The book focuses not only on the burial of Jesus, but uses that as an example of how historians approach Biblical evidence. It also tackles the topic of resurrection, and so might make for interesting Eastertime reading – especially if you can’t get out because of the snow!

I remember hearing about the discovery of a so-called “Jesus-Ossuary”. and since then I have read a few articles about it, but I haven’t been able to find a book that describes in any detail what was found. At some point, this tomb, where they found the ossuaries that may have ties to Jesus’ family, was shut down to everyone but Shimon Gibson. It makes me wonder what the authorities were trying to hide, especially now that one of those all important ossuaries has come up “missing”.

Hard scientifically-based archaeology cannot be disputed or ignored when researching religious texts, icons, and mysteries. Just like the early days of the Church, when religious leaders hid information to keep it from the laity, there is too many facts omitted, and too much false information released to the public. I look forward to reading your book, I and hope that Amazon will have it available soon.

It’s available – it just wasn’t yesterday briefly for some reason. If you read it, I will be interested to hear what you think about my treatment of the subject of the Talpiot tomb.

Haven’t read it yet, James, but I promise to opine when I do. As an author of an upcoming novel series on Jesus and his family, this book’s right up my alley, and I can;t wait to get my paws on it!

Lovely summer day here in Vancouver, sun is splitting the trees (as the saying goes). You gotta move north, James!
