Sunday Nights in the TARDIS

Sunday Nights in the TARDIS December 1, 2013

Although I am not a morning person, I was delighted to wake up early today in order to appear on the Australian radio show Sunday Nights. I was in conversation about religion and science fiction with Robert Geraci, Avril Hannah-Jones, and Caroline Symcox, as well as the show’s host John Cleary. You can listen to the discussion via the internet.

Avril has been mentioned on this blog before because of her “Church of the Latter-Day Geek.” She also has a blog, Rev Doc Geek. Robert Geraci has been mentioned multiple times because he is another scholar exploring the intersection of religion and science fiction (see for instance his Apocalyptic AI: Visions of Heaven in Robotics, Artificial Intelligence, and Virtual Reality). And Caroline Symcox has been mentioned here before as the author of the audiobook Doctor Who and the Council of Nicaea.

We talked quite a bit about Doctor Who, of course, with several mentions of Time and Relative Dimensions in Faith: Religion and Doctor Who.

Also on the subject of religion and Doctor Who, Jack Collins shared his recent conference paper on Academia.edu: “Daemons, Beasts, and Destroyers: A Whovian Demonology.” And Giles Fraser recently compared the Bible, Doctor Who, and Gravity in a piece in The Guardian.

Via PZ Myers, check out this Doctor Who/Hunger Games parody mash up. It is quite graphic but hilarious:
