Proof That God Loves Us

I fact-checked the quote about beer that is often attributed to Ben Franklin (“Beer is proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy”), and found that it is an adaptation of something that Franklin wrote about wine:

On parle de la conversion de l’eau en vin, à la nôce de Cana, comme d’un miracle. Mais cette conversion est faite tous les jours par la bonté de Dieu, sous nos yeux. Voilà l’eau qui tombe des cieux sur nos vignobles, et alors elle entre dans les racines des vignes pour-être changée en vin. Preuve constante que Dieu nous aime, et qu’il aime à nous voir heureux.

And so I made my own quote about beer, for my colleagues in the realm of education who are in the midst of grading at the moment.

    I might change the second quote just a bit. “Grading is proof that even though God loves us he sends rain on the just and the unjust. But for these occasions he has also given us beer.” But that’s a bit too wordy.
