Pope Eye

It’s Monday, and I don’t want to be working, and neither do you, so here’s another silly post.

I got the first of the six volume EC Segar complete Popeye strips for Christmas, and my daughter and I both loved it so much we’ve been picking up the rest as Amazon credit comes in. The volumes are labelled to spell out POPEYE on the spine when they’re put on the shelf in order. We just got the 4th volume. Here they are: 

Just in time for the conclave! It’s an omen of … something!

UPDATE: Every time I look at the misaligned “P” in volume 3, my eye twitches a little. A lifetime in publishing will do that to you.

    My phone has been trying to tell me something as well, not sure what. The shuffle keeps giving me relevant phrases from the GPS, followed by a song:
    “Your Destination will be on the Right” – “Take me Home Country Roads”
    “Data Connection Lost”- “Baby Needs a New Pair of Shoes”

    And the like. Some of them have been very religious, almost liturgical:
    “Continue Straight” – “Kyrie Elaison (Down the road that I must travel) [Mr. Mr., a 1980s single hit wonder band”

    “Take the fork on the left” – “Teaching them to Read” Nick Alexander.
