I believe how you start your day is as important as how you finish it. I don’t know about you, but sometimes I might wake up on the “wrong” side of the bed. I have to admit that this rarely happens however, these are little ideas that I keep in my back pocket, just in case, for when those doom days occur.
1 – Set a fantastic and unique intention for the day ahead! For example, today, I will have a fabulous time walking the dogs. Or today I will do my best to create smiles wherever I go.
2 – Be present to today! Whatever happened yesterday was yesterday. Whatever happens tomorrow is tomorrow. This is a particularly challenging one to remember, but well worth the reminder.
3 – Demonstrate gratitude. Start your day with some appreciative thoughts. Give thanks for the wonderful things you have in your life. This always immediately gives me a boost of energy. YAY!
4 – Run through your day. Pick out some agenda items or appointments to which you are very much looking forward. It’s sometimes the little things that can turn that dodgy feeling into bright and sassy energy.
5 – Choose life. Choose to do one thing differently today. For example order that new chai on the menu at Starbucks or attend that new “spinyoga” class at your local fitness center.Choose to consciously walk through your day with a cheerful spirit and attitude. Choose to have a great day. Choose to learn 1-2 new things about a friend or a loved one. All easy ones, right?
Some alternatives would be to drink a glass of water, concentrate on a very happy place for 10 seconds, OR have everything you need for the day assembled nearby your bed. It’s one less thing you have to think about prior to starting your day.
If all else fails, in a last ditch effort, put on a smile and keep smiling. It’s the “Fake It Until You Make It” method.
Laughter is also an incredible way to shift your vibration into a happy one. Good luck. Do what works for you and keep doing it!
