Query: Is It Possible to Hear Divine Guidance? Are You Listening?

Can anyone really receive Divine Guidance? What does it sound like? Quakers use a query or question to focus and deepen their meditations and to consider new ideas. Eileen Flanagan, a Quaker writer, puts queries at the end of each chapter in her book The Wisdom to Know the Difference: When to Make a Change — and When to Let Go. I offer them to you to ponder.

These queries come at the end of Chapter Three, Seeking Divine Wisdom, page 112-3.

Do you believe it is possible to hear Divine guidance?

Have you ever felt God guiding you? If so, how did you know it was God?

Have you ever felt led to change a situation?

What fears to you have about following your inner guide?

Pick the query that seems easiest to answer and spend some quiet time with it. Journal about your thoughts. Now pick the hardest one, and do the same thing. What did you learn about yourself? You can find other queries on the homepage of my blog Plain Speaking.
