In the post “Circle Round”, I asked other practitioners with disabilities to join me in learning about different types of socioeconomic systems and how they have been implemented in other nations. Currently in many nations around the world, people are gathering in occupations and protests over these issues. It would like these series of posts to be our opportunity to think about important aspects of society which include: trade, knowledge, interpersonal relationships, culture, health, safety, and natural resources (air, water,... Read more

A lot of blockbuster films are released for the holidays. My family has incorporated going to a show or watching films at home into our Thanksgiving tradition. Last night my husband and I watched Cowboys and Aliens. My mom, grandma, and I want to see the new Muppet movie this weekend. VIDEO: Blind film critic Tommy Edison reviews the movie “Hugo”. He talks about the performances of Asa Butterfield, Chloë Grace Moretz, Sacha Baron Cohen, and Ben Kingsley. Plus, he... Read more

My cat loves to roam around outside then come back for meals or to go to bed. He makes gifts out of the things he has hunted around the neighborhood or out in the field. I appreciate how he keeps mice out of our home and the mole population down. I appreciate how in the summer he sits on the potato tires keeping an eye out for rabbits or paws my head when I sit and read. He’s thankful for... Read more

In 2005, I met Shekhinah Mountainwater one of the foremothers of the American Goddess movement. We lived just a few blocks from each other in the Seabright district of Santa Cruz, CA. We were in her apartment in the temple room. We sat among many... Read more

I kept my eyes closed knowing I would only see flashes of light or dark spots anyway. I sort of remember staring at the dashboard and drying my eyes after. There’s some noise and in his nervousness my husband has dropped a bag of groceries and broken the eggs while trying to help me.... Read more

I have a passion for books and music. E-books are very popular but I prefer print because books are a full body experience. I get a thrill from the smell of ink and paper. It’s the only time knowledge and tales have a scent and when I walk into a library my spirit soars, carried away on perfumed promises of insights and flights of fancy. On Reddit, I’m subscribed to Libraryporn where people post pictures of amazing libraries. There are... Read more
