What Makes Me Angry

What Makes Me Angry April 10, 2011

Being expected to measure myself against monotheistic traditions, values and structures makes me angry. Being expected to rail against Christianity nonsensically makes me angry. Politicians who think making political decisions based on religious precepts is preferable makes me angry. Atheists who write me off as a nut instead of an ally in the fight for separation of church and state makes me angry. Pagans who care more about how I look than how I act make me angry. Christians who only want me if I’m embracing a ridiculous stereotype make me angry. People who spend more time trash talking than offering solutions make me angry. People who debate the person rather than the idea make me angry. Not having enough time and resources to do what I need and want to do makes me very angry.

Despite all that, there’s an awful lot that makes me glad. An awful lot.

The Homeric Hymns make me glad, as does the Olympic Symphony.

Standing in circle space in the cool mountain air with my coven family makes me glad.

Good mountain and bluegrass music speaking to traditional themes that have a sweet Pagan bent to my ear.

Banana sandwiches and potato chips make me glad.

The song from Triplets of Belleville makes me quite glad.

Catching myself wondering why there are still egg dye kits out when Ostara has past because I’ve forgotten the store stocks them for Easter makes me laugh.

The Pagan Newswire Collective makes me very glad.

What makes you glad? What makes your soul happy? What tickles your funny bone? What makes life sweet?
