Extraterrestrial Visitors?

A friend of mine sent me links to a number of YouTube videos in which respectable individuals speak about extraterrestrials. I’ll just reproduce them here, and invite comments on how convincing or unconvincing these testimonies seem. I know we have a community here interested in (among other things) distinguishing science from pseudoscience, and distinguishing scholarship from apologetics. What do you make of these?

The ET is Paul Hellyer, right? ;-)Seriously: I haven’t watched the videos yet, but I have no idea what a “vice-premier” is. We do have a “Deputy Prime Minister”, meaning the guy who gets to take the heat in Question Period when the PM is out of town, and Hellyer was DPM under Trudeau. And yes, I’d heard that Hellyer has become a whacko in recent years.

I’m skeptical. I think some “thing” is going on but am not convinced it’s aliens. Honestly – do you think our government can keep a secret for 50 years? Just look at it!I’m open to convincing evidence but am not sure that this is it…

Intriguing rationale for the post. Wish I had the half hour to glean…Can we still get your take?

I don’t really have a take. I think it is likely there is life elsewhere in the universe. I have yet to see anything that absolutely persuades me beyond reasonable doubt that any such entities have visited us. I am certainly in favor of the subject being investigated in a serious, critical way.But of course, “they” will keep the truth from getting out… :)

Don’t get me wrong! I too think life elsewhere is highly probable. The whole UFO matter is another topic altogether.

I’m more interested in the ‘scholarship vs. apologetics’ topic. Recently, I’ve found “apologetics” even among classical scholarship on the reign of Tiberius. So it’s a current hot topic in my brain. When I was a kid, I figured there weren’t any aliens because the “Great Commission” didn’t mention them. Or at least that God would keep us from finding them, if they exist. Juvenile logic? I dunno. 😉
