Gratitude Mingled with Theological Concern

I am grateful to Jared Calaway that he is going to be reviewing my book, and that he has already posted a first impression of the layout and contents. I nonetheless feel I must object on theological grounds to what the title of his post seems to be suggesting…

But, James, isn't the title indicative of "right" interpretation according to monotheistic understanding (in opposition to Trinitarian understanding)? and human moral development? So, take heart, thou art a "god"!

I really ought to have used it as a "teaching moment" and emphasized that the term "god" had a broader use in ancient Judaism, was not reserved for "God most high", and did not presume anything about the essence or nature of the one so designated. But even having said that, I'd still be uncomfortable being called "the only true God"! :)

It's good that you are not the "only true god", as I was vying for an opportunity to be at your side :)!
