Religion and Science Fiction: Short Story Anthologies

Religion and Science Fiction: Short Story Anthologies January 4, 2010

There have been several good collections of science fiction short stories that touch on religious themes. They are all out of print except for the last one:

Other Worlds, Other Gods; Adventures in Religious Science Fiction edited by Mayo Mohs.

The New Awareness: Religion through science fiction edited by Patricia Warrick and Martin Harry Greenberg.

Sacred Visions edited by Andrew M. Greeley and Michael Cassutt.

Wandering Stars: An Anthology of Jewish Fantasy and Science Fiction edited by Jack Dann. There’s also a sequel or second volume, More Wandering Stars.

Since the broadest of the anthologies are out of print, I’ll be having students read selections from here and there. It would have been much more convenient if either of the first two had been in print and I could simply have had students purchase a volume. Does anyone know if comparable anthologies have been put together more recently, whether including many of the same classic stories or other ones or some combination? And, while we’re on the subject, if there are any particular stories in the sci-fi genre that touch on religious themes in some way, your recommendations are welcome!
