That was very Arthur C. Clarke of you!  I take it you have read his short story from the 50s, “The Star”.

  • James F. McGrath

Yes, I was thinking of that – and I wish I had found a movie clip to use that had a “star of Bethlehem” that looked more like a supernova or exploding Death Star and less like a celestial spotlight.  :-)

  • Gilgamesh42

I think the most recent (2010) BBC version of the Nativity has a Star of Bethlehem at least more like something up in the sky, and not the beam of light or something hovering over a house.  I think your clip came from the 2006 movie, yes?

  • Gilgamesh42

Oh, and fun fact from IMDB: the woman who played Mary in the 2006 nativity movie had placed the Queen of Naboo in Star Wars: Episode III.

  • James F. McGrath

How did I not notice that? I think that even if another magi/star clip would work better, I should stick with this one for the sake of the Star Wars connection!

  • Brad Matthies

You get +25 geek points for using the original Death Star explosion. :-)

  • Devdonnelly

    What’s Jesus’ midchlorian count?

  • James F. McGrath

Even higher than that of the Magi! :-)

    Here’s a related image that I made:

  • Jeff Carter

My son recognized Mary as Naboo Queen almost immediately.  He knows his Star Wars!

Here’s one for Easter: “That’s no tomb”

I’ve tried making another Star Wars Christmas mash-up. Let me know what you think!
