Gifting an Episode

I was hoping to give someone a Doctor Who episode as a gift – the episode “Blink” is a great entry point into the series. But I can’t figure out a way to send a video to someone else as a gift via Amazon. Any suggestions?

Can’t help with the question, but that has to be the best self-contained episode of the modern era.

I disagree: the Dalek episode set in the U.S., starring Christopher Eccleston, is in my opinion the best since the restart, of the ones I’ve seen anyway.

But does it work well as something self-contained, something that you could watch as though the rest of the series did not exist and completely understand and enjoy it?

That’s true, you need to already know the lore of the series to appreciate it. Which is probably why I like it so much.

Merry Christmas and keep up the great blogging in 2014!

“Dalek” is very good yes, probably my favorite Eccleston. It may be better to introduce more of the lore than “Blink”, to be honest.

Also high on my list of single episodes would be “Turn Left”, “Vincent and the Doctor”, “Midnight” and “The Girl in the Fireplace”.

But I think purely self-contained, I’d still have to go with Blink. Also, Carey Mulligan :-)

Do you really want to start them off with the best episode available? Don’t want them to find the rest of the episodes a disappointment. 😉

What are you saying about the rest of the episodes?! :-)

But seriously, it is a good question what to recommend as the second episode to watch after that…

“Rose” is also a good single episode option.
