According to the Parliamentary Assembly and a number of other entities who study religion and politics, a secular democratic socialist form of government which combines both capitalism and social programming most benefits the Common Good of a nation. Studies show that the best form of government allows individuals to make informed decisions about their individual lives and families. People making decisions about their own families and individual private lives are the freedoms we all equally deserve to make. Our constitution says that everyone has the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
As a Native Texan, I cannot believe what I am witnessing and experiencing. Various attempts to erode democracy in Texas are resulting in catastrophic consequences. Currently, Gov. Greg Abbott is trying to remove local authority from city governments with the power to overturn elections. After everything I have seen and experienced as a life-long Texan, we are approaching minority rule by force.

Republican GOP policies over five decades have brought us to our current state of affairs in Texas. Our Republican lawmakers have a documented history of destroying lives of mothers in poverty who carry unborn babies, destroying migrant lives at the border and ripping children away from their parents, and withholding health care for decades from vulnerable people. Texas GOP lawmakers have withheld maternity and family medical leave and have flippantly handled COVID in a way that results in unnecessary Texan deaths. The Texas GOP has a long-standing history of spreading and supporting deadly conspiracy theories and misinformation through right-winged media, increasing gun violence by dissolving reasonable gun restrictions, harming our education system resulting in harming children, deliberately fighting against scientific and historical facts resulting in harm and death, elevating racism to dangerous levels, increasing the death penalty, and destroying the lives of the disabled, LBGTQ people, and their families through unjust laws and practices. These are just some of the maladies that the Texas GOP have forced by their cruelty on Texans during their time of power.
Now in 2023 after decades of voter suppression, gerrymandering, and passing laws resulting in the above, we have reached a level of minority rule. The Texas GOP wants to seek and uphold power by force through any unethical means possible, even if it means destruction of more lives than they have already destroyed. Their affiliation with the NRA is just one of many dangerous political operatives with whom they associate. I am going to present an older but more current video of Texas politics and what they are doing to everyday Texans.
When the Mothers Against Greg Abbott was in full campaign to boot Greg Abbott for his shenanigans, I stood in solidarity with the group.
The Texas moms in this video addressed these issues that Gov. Greg Abbott and Texas politicians have failed to do or have done to Texans.
I added a few extensions of my own researched knowledge. I think our political climate has only worsened since this video was released over a year ago.
Texas politicians (I say mostly Republican)…….
1. Fail to fully keep our Texas ERCOT Powergrid alive and well-maintained resulting in dangers and even many deaths
2. Remove some key racial history curriculum from Texas classrooms and ban a variety of books, including books by Black and LBGTQ authors
3. Make it legal to buy a gun without a permit and openly carry it
4. Place a $10,000 bounty on anyone who helps a woman get an abortion, essentially criminalizing abortion
5. Legislate against good and loving parents of transgender children and their transgender children while fighting against mainstream science and their children’s doctors
6. Fought against mask and vaccine mandates during the worst pandemic in over 100 years resulting in over 92,000 Texan deaths, almost 10% of the total US COVID death toll.
According to Encyclopedia Britannica and The Washington Monthly, I close with these primary traits of fascism once again. I believe we are now inside and moving closer to a full-blown fascist state and moving closer to a variation of the Holocaust, at least in Texas.
1. sources and capitalizes on economic woes and anxieties
2. shifts political blame on to scapegoat groups like minority groups, the Democrats,
immigrants, and other groups while taking away blame from where it belongs, on the leadership
3. propagates extreme nationalism going hand-in-hand with racism and militarism
4. a melding of church and state when there should be a separation
5. subjugation of women and sexism
6. a disdain for human rights except those of the elite, especially a disdain for those who identify as LGBTQIA+
7. obsession with crime and punishment
8. identification of enemies as a unifying cause for political action
9. disdain for intellectualism, science, history, and the arts
10. control of different types of media, including books
11. rampant cronyism and government corruption
12. attempt to control elections, like through voter suppression
