Pastors Who Harm LGBTQ People & Support Trump, Please Retire March 4, 2024

I know I can’t force it, but I can certainly ask it.  I think pastors who harm LGBTQ+ people with their potentially-deadly rhetoric and bad treatment of LGBTQ+ people, while also unconditionally support Trump after everything that has happened, without question, should consider retiring.

At this point, these ministers who refuse to listen to the dangers they impose on LGBTQ+ people by condemning them from the pulpit and in other ways should probably consider retirement.  These ministers refuse to care about what it does to LGBTQ+ youth when they are rejected from the church doors and the harm that is done to their families. Years of ministry and science prove that these behaviors increase the risk of self-harm, substance abuse, self-hatred, and even suicide. The majority of ministers have taken the time to theologically process these truths, but a small yet stubborn minority refuse to listen and care.  Having a difference of opinion about harming and endangering the lives of others (no matter who it is) is not a difference of opinion.

Then we have the unconditional support of Donald Trump which is also very serious.  Here we have a man with 91 criminal indictments who has been convicted of sexual assault of two different women.  How is it possible for a minister to support Donald Trump after all that he has done up until this point?

A friend of mine named John Woodman, a strong Christian, father of six, husband, published author, and researcher wrote this five years ago, but I will update it and add my own findings.  “Christ stood for truth; Trump told thousands of lies. This was easily proven by anyone who tested his words. Christ says we are all created equal; Trump dog-whistled to white supremacists and told the Proud Boys to “stand back and stand by.” Christ stood for faithfulness; Trump had multiple affairs, multiple wives, and cheated with a porn star while his wife (a model) was pregnant with their child. Christ stood for the poor; Trump passed a massive wealth transfer from the middle class and working poor to his rich donors. Christ spoke of kindness to your fellow man; Trump’s rise was marked by bullying and intimidation. Christ said that leaders should be servants of all; Trump demanded absolute loyalty and made every effort to destroy anyone who would not bow before him.  He also promises retribution towards those who don’t. Christ spoke of purity; Trump bragged that he could “grab women by the pussy” — and had more than 20 women who all testified (2 Cor. 13:1) that he had sexually assaulted them. Now he has been convicted of two crimes of sexual assaults resulting in hundreds of MILLIONS of dollars in damage fees.  As a direct result of electing the man that we chose — whom many Christians also claimed was “God’s chosen” (Isaiah 5:20) — America experienced a massive toll of over 600,000 American deaths from COVID, well over half of which were entirely unnecessary.  Trump incited an insurrection on January sixth and stole classified documents.  He also has close ties to dictators and told Russia to do whatever they wanted to our allies.  All of this has been proven.

I ask myself again, how is it possible for ministers to support Trump after all that has happened? It should be impossible.  It has moved from a difference of opinion to supporting a variation of Nazi Germany. Don’t even say, “What about abortion, Hunter Biden’s laptop, and Joe Biden’s age?”
