4. Some people are asking: Why Protest now and not several years ago (when he was a starting QB for a Superbowl Caliber Team)? My Response: Colin is still a fairly young man (he is currently 28 years old) and at the beginning of his career (2011-2012) he, like many other young athletes focused on himself, his team and just having fun! Since he got injured last year and hasn’t really gotten to practice or play much football for almost 8 months, he has had a lot of time to reflect, not only on his own life, but about what is going on in the world around him. Comparing his recent media interviews with the ones he gave when he was younger and at the “top of his game” you can clearly see that he has matured greatly and is more interested to do something positive for the community, rather than flex his muscles and take selfies on his instagram account!
