5. Do something new and exciting together on a regular basis.
This sounds complicated and expensive, right? I get it. But, it doesn’t have to be if we’re creative. It’s really all about spending some quality time together that breaks us out of the daily grind. Go eat at that new restaurant in town and order some dishes you’ve never eaten before. Go kayaking at the local waterway. Get tickets to a concert that is coming to town. If you have some savings, start planning that trip abroad that you’ve both always wanted to do. Whatever “it” is, go do it. Get a sitter and go. These kind of new experiences are like a glass of cold water on a hot day for your marriage. You probably don’t even realize how much you really need it, but when you take in these exciting experiences together, you’ll both feel invigorated and reconnected.
