My Hajj – The Prophet Muhammad’s Mosque and City of Madina In Pictures

This is a very special part of the mosque called Riadhul Jannah. It is thought to be a piece of paradise on earth, and Muslims crowd each other to pray two ra’kat in this spot and ask for God’s forgiveness, as we are taught that just one ra’kah (when you bow down in ritual prayer) is worth 1,000 of prayers. This is the only place in the mosque that has green carpet, to separate it from other areas of the mosque. The area is opened up to men and women at different times, and it can be extremely hard to find a spot to offer prayer here.
