Gemini New Moon, May 28 2014

The New Moon in Gemini occurs on May 28th. Because the New Moon is the beginning of a new lunar cycle, there is a fresh new energy that is available to us at the New Moon.  It’s an opportunity to make a clean start and begin anew.

Gemini is the sign of the twins, and often it manifests as two faces of the same person which never have an opportunity to meet.  We experience this internally as duality – a part of us seeks one experience and another part of us craves its opposite.  When our values are not in alignment it becomes more difficult for us to focus and achieve our goals.

For this reason, Gemini times are not great for goal setting.  But they ARE good for exposing ourselves to new things so that we can try on new experiences and see how we are changed by them.  So during this Gemini New Moon, try something new that you have never tried before.  Maybe something that has never even occurred to you to try, or something you are certain you won’t like.  Try it just because you can.

Gemini loves to talk and communicate, so using words and language will be greatly supported over the next few days.

This New Moon includes a square from the Sun and Moon to Neptune.  Neptune squares are amazing, creative, spiritually opening.  But they can also create illusion and make it difficult to focus if work is required.  In addition, Gemini itself lacks focus, preparing to explore all of the myriad of experiences that are offered to us at the moment.

The period between the 25th and the 29th and not great times for business applications.  Instead use this time for creative ventures, spiritual retreats, meditation and visualization.  Mercury and Venus are in harmony at the New Moon and during this period, helping us to blend our thoughts and ideas (Mercury) with a desire for peaceful connectedness (Venus) and this combination will help to facilitate our creative side.

Venus enters Taurus late on the day of the New Moon, grounding our relationships and helping to bring us back to earth. Mercury enters Cancer for just a few weeks.  Mercury will turn retrograde on June 7th and its motion is at a standstill now as it prepares to change direction, so the desire of Gemini to be in constant motion will be toned down by the pull to reverse course and retreat that the retrograde inspires.  Still, the vibrant New Moon energy will help us to break through blocks and make a fresh start.
