Have you ever prayed and prayed and not received the answers you are praying for? Have you ever wondered what is taking God too long? Have you also thought about God’s silence just when you needed Him the most?
Why is God not immediately giving us what we pray for?
One possible reason is that it could not be the right time yet. God in His wisdom knows what will be best for us and He wants to give us His blessings at the right time when we could benefit from them most.
But another reason is that God has actually given us the blessing already but we just failed to see it!
Have you experienced this also in your life? You have prayed and prayed for so long. You struggled, you try to keep the faith despite God’s silence. And then one day, you just realized God has already given you your blessing.
How could this happen? How can we receive something and not even know it was there all along?
Sometimes, we can’t see the blessings that are right infront of us because we were so busy looking for what we thought our blessings would look like.
Perhaps this is why they are so often called blessings in disguise. God answers our prayers. But we often complain of not getting His answers because we demand that they should look exactly as we imagined them to be.
The God we have, however is so much more loving and generous than we could ever imagine, and His blessings are also like that. They so exceed our expectations that we think they’re not supposed to be the answers we’re looking for. Even when placed upon our laps, we turn around and ask who they were supposed to be for.
Could it be that you have already received what you have been praying for? Pray to God that He may open your spiritual eyes so that you may see all the blessings being showered upon you each day from heaven.
It is there. All we need are the eyes to see them and the heart to pray gratefully to our God who provides for all our needs and more.
What we can do today:
1. Pray to God and be honest with our intentions and needs
2. Trust God’s wisdom, love and providence
3. Surrender to His will
4. Have an open mind
5. Be grateful for His blessings
“Ask, and it will be given you; search, and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened for you. For everyone who asks receives, and everyone who searches finds, and for everyone who knocks, the door will be opened. Is there anyone among you who, if your child asks for bread, will give a stone? Or if the child asks for a fish, will give a snake? If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good things to those who ask him!” – Matthew 7:7-11 (NRSVCE)
