Will the Duggar Family Forgive In Touch Magazine & the Media For Their Coverage? June 5, 2015

Screen Shot 2015-06-05 at 9.22.57 PM  I just finished watching the Megyn Kelly interview with the Duggar daughters who were the sexual abuse victims of Josh Duggar and what I heard them say over and over is that they forgave their brother who sexually abused them.

This got me thinking, since a large part of the public discourse on this topic has been forgiveness, the question I have for the full Duggar clan is this – Will you all forgive In Touch Magazine, the woman who brought this story to the magazine and all who are in the media who have covered this story who you feel persecuted you?

After all, the Christian thing to do is to “Bless those who curse you and pray for those who hurt you” – Luke 6:28  and since it has been declared more than once by the Duggars and other prominent Christians, the Duggars were targeted for their Christian faith, so Matthew 5:44 says, “But I tell you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you.”

I think if the Duggars were able to forgive the sexual abuse in their house and they all got over it and worked through it, then I think it’s the Christian and godly thing for them to model to the secular world that they have all taken the time to forgive everyone involved who released this to the public.

In that forgiveness, I would also add that no lawsuit should be brought against those who published material and they need to also figure out an awesome way to bless those who have maligned them and persecuted them in the media by bringing forth their dirty  little family secret.

I contend, if the Duggars do not forgive and if they do bring forth a lawsuit, and if they don’t give at least a fruit basket of some type as a blessing to those who have harmed them, then their religion is worthless and they are hypocrites. Is it harder to forgive a family member who commits a sexual crime or is it harder to forgive the media who dragged their secret into the public? Time will tell.

I say, if the Duggars are all about living like Christ, as they said in the interview, let’s just watch and see if we see Jesus show up.
