Scriptures for Parenting

Scriptures for Parenting

Good morning, friends!

After a weekend away, I am having a hard time clearing my head enough to write a coherent post! So, once again, I will be sharing someone else’s work 🙂 This time, the “someone else” is God’s Word – what better way to begin the week?!

Here are some Scripture verses related to parenting, but please feel free to add others in the comments section – we can use all of the wisdom that we can get as we shepherd the little souls that God has entrusted us with!

“Children, obey your parents [in the Lord], for this is right. ‘Honor your father and mother.’ This is the first commandment with a promise, ‘that it may go well with you and that you may have a long life on earth.’ Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up with the training and instruction of the Lord.” Ephesians 6: 1-4

“Children, obey your parents in everything, for this is pleasing to the Lord. Fathers, do not provoke your children, so they may not become discouraged.”Colossians 3: 20-21

“Train a boy in the way he should go; even when he is old, he will not swerve from it.” Proverbs 22: 6

“So turn from youthful desires and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace, along with those who call on the Lord with purity of heart. Avoid foolish and ignorant debates, for you know that they breed quarrels. A slave of the Lord should not quarrel, but should be gentle with everyone, able to teach, tolerant, correcting opponents with kindness. It may be that God will grant them repentance that leads to knowledge of the truth, and that they may return to their senses out of the devil’s snare, where they are entrapped by him, for his will.” 2 Timothy 3: 22-26

“A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.” Proverbs 15: 1

“”There is no fear in love, but perfect love drives out fear because fear has to do with punishment, and so one who fears is not yet perfect in love. We love because he first loved us.” 1 John 4: 18
