I’ve listed my favorite iPhone Apps in alphabetical order to save me from splitting hairs over the precise order. If you have other apps I should consider for the future, please list them in the comments section.
- Bible – Includes a number of great translations, but unfortunately not the New Revised Standard Version — and it’s much lighter than carrying a Bible around.
- Constitution – In these days of frequent Constitutional debate, I’ve found it handy to have a quick reference to what the actual text of the Constitution says.
- Flashlight – Quickest way to use your iPhone to find your way around in the dark.
- Flixster – I love searching for films by location as well as the integration of the Rotten Tomatoes reviews that helps speed film selection.
- Insight Timer – Keeps time for you while you meditate, and saves you from carrying around sundry bells and chimes.
- Kindle – I’ve been shocked how much I’ve enjoyed reading entire novels on such a tiny screen.
- The New York Times – The newspaper of record. What more is there to say?
- NPR Finder – Locate the strongest NPR signal when traveling.
- Urbanspoon – Who needs a travel guide anymore, when you can combine serendipity with this app to quickly locate multiple restaurant options?
- The Weather Channel – I use this app at least once a day to discern what to wear, especially before heading outside to exercise.
Honorable mentions: I love that my iPhone can also double as a Starbucks Rewards Card via the Mobile Card app (the Groupon and Living Social apps are similarly helpful with cutting down on paper — and not having to worrying about leaving your coupon at home), HopStop is great for navigating public transportation, and I’m looking forward to experimenting with the Amazon PriceCheck app.
