I’ve had to teach myself how to look at the moon.  How to see the moon. How to know the moon. I finally figured out that when the moon is in a ‘c’ shape, that means it’s moving to new where I’m currently living. ‘C’ how new I am. It’s a little trick of knowing. A little recognition of movement. A small way to feel connected and to be able to check out the sky and know expansion and introspection.... Read more

Do you need a Maypole at Beltane? I don’t think so. Do you need any tool to do something witchy? No. Do you need to be with other people to do magick? Not really. At least, that’s what I think. I think magick and celebration is inherent, a part of our DNA, a part of being a human. Ritual is in everything, from the way we wake up to the way we drive to certain places. It might not be... Read more

My dead don’t wait until Samhain to poke at me. My mom died four years ago. Was killed four years ago in an accident. I remember that day, what my dad said when he called, and who came over. In the Northern Hemisphere, it’s Beltane-time and thoughts often turn to the sunshine, dancing around a Maypole. Frolicking. Merriment. Joy. But in the Southern Hemisphere, it’s the time of Samhain. I feel that in the balance. And I hold that just... Read more

My magick often shifts and changes, but I've noticed the way I've lost sight of awe. By coming back to the place of wondering and wandering, I remember. Read more

One of the greatest honors I have in my life is teaching magick. (Though I’m a bit more partial to saying facilitating since I hope to facilitate experiences more than tell someone what to think or do.) When I was first starting out, I thought being in the teacher role meant being 100% grounded and together when I walked in the door. After all, I was the role model, the one that others were looking to for guidance. It was... Read more

The pandemic encouraged me to look at my magick, how it works and how it might work better. With lessons learned, I'm excited to see what blooms next. Read more

The spring is making its way in the Northern Hemisphere. I’ve seen the daffodils open, tulips begin to rise, the plum blossoms on trees, and the longer stretches of light. Things are budding, blooming, and rising up to greet the sun. I’m thinking about opening the windows for longer stretches and letting the air begin to flow again. I’m making lists to clean the dusty corners and the places that have been hidden by extra blankets. And I’m also thinking... Read more

It was July when Aphrodite moved into the bedroom. Her altar once spread across the living room, with a picture there, a statue there, pearls, pearls, pearls. But it was summer where I live and the days were longer, hotter, and She wanted to be close. Her altar became the place I returned each evening, pouring honey rose tincture on my tongue, drinking rose tea, and anointing myself with a special oil. Devotion looks like this sometimes. Presence is sometimes... Read more
