Gun violence restraining orders (GVRO) could be an answer to our seeking common ground and working toward a solution between having the legal means and ability to have semi-automatic weapons which are legal for most. Since we are to obey those who are in governing authority over us (Rom 13), we have every right and every reason to bear arms and protect ourselves and our families if needed. I am not saying “It’s shoot to kill” for someone breaking and entering because nothing in my home is worth a human life. Things can be replaced. Not so with a human life, so defending oneself by using force should always be a last resort. I believe from the Bible verses that I’ve read, and Jesus’ teaching on violence, there is nothing wrong with owning a gun or guns. Just as long as they’re used for defense purposes or hunting or skeet shooting (etc.), but some weapons and their relatively easy access should be examined closely in the hopes of stemming mass shootings, which today seem to be an everyday occurrence.
