Lilly’s Purple Plastic Purse was written and illustrated by Kevin Henkes in 1996. Henkes is the author of numerous children’s books as well as young adult books, many with cute little mice as the main characters. Born in Racine, WI and one of five children, he says that he used his family experiences growing up as inspiration for his many stories.
