When you hear accusations that Russia helped you in the election

The best move is to nominate a billionaire with personal ties to Russia to allay those fears.  Ah, Trump.  As I said, I resolve to never, ever – and I mean never – underestimate Trump again.  I bought into the ‘buffoon with goofy hair’ narrative along with most Americans.  Now he’s my president.  And I wish him well, as I did Obama in 2008.  I want him to succeed where it helps America and Americans.  I don’t say that, by the way, followed by 24/7 Trash Trump fests.  That makes any words I say about wishing him well seem rather shallow IMHO.

Of course there will be things I oppose.  There are certainly things he says and does that concern me.  Who knows?  His opponents might actually learn how to oppose him.  Right now, I’m not holding my breath.

I realize that there could be more to this nomination than meets the eye.  And I’m the last one to say we don’t need to make major changes in our approach to Russia if we don’t want things to continue spiraling downhill.  Clearly, however, Trump isn’t worried about appearances.  And while appearances are subjective to be sure, sometimes they are important.

There’s a reason most people don’t want The Dude representing the US at the United Nations.  Perhaps the same logic would go for picking a person with deep, personally advantageous ties to the country that is all of a sudden important again, and increasingly seen as a threat to our nation.
