The blood of the martyrs

Is the seed of the Church.  So said Tertullian.   And in keeping with that most powerful witness to the Faith, Fr. Stanley Rother is going to be beautified.  He is the first person born in the US to be recognized as a martyr.  Read the news and a brief account of his story here.

The impact of martyrdom can’t be underestimated.  It’s not for the faint of heart or spirit.  It’s not something that we tell others to do.  And it doesn’t include suffering carpal tunnel on the keyboard or having a heart attack jogging in an upper middle class neighborhood.

It is, well, the story and witness of Fr. Stanley Rother.  The type of story that continues to inspire converts to this very day.
