Speaking of LGBT tolerance

Speaking of LGBT tolerance

One of the selling points of American progressives is that we have met the enemy, and it is us.  Tales of endless persecution of gays, violence against gays, bigotry against gays, and even people not wanting to bake cakes for gay weddings are repeated on a daily basis.

And yet, in other parts of the world, we have one more example of an all too common trend.  Yes, I know there once was violence and discrimination against gays in the US. I’m sure there will still be cases where such violence happens.  In a nation as large as ours, even if all laws are behind protecting gays, unfortunately you’ll still have bad things happen.  See violence against Jews, blacks, whites, Christians and any other demographic for examples.  But there is a difference between a nation working to balance gay rights and religious freedom, and a culture that has varying degrees of outlawing to executing gays, with murders and executions being a frequent occurrences.

Sometimes perspective isn’t a bad thing to have.
