To sum up

An observation from my oldest boy: ‘America is dealing with two extremes, plus Trump.’

That’s about right.  The Alt Right and, if you will, the Alt Left.  Both peddle extremism and allow for radicals who spew hate, racism, violence, intolerance, bigotry, and don’t see the country as big enough for anyone but who they say.  Plus President Trump.

Exactly how Trump fits in, I don’t know.  He seems to embody parts of the extremes on both sides, and yet also has characteristics different from either.

Whatever, it’s worth noting that in America there are two groups.  One group sees enemies overseas and here at home.  One group sees victims overseas who only hate us because of the enemies here at home.
