Apr. 14: The Hand of God

Apr. 14: The Hand of God April 14, 2013

Saving someone’s life isn’t minor, but that’s how Pastor Johnny Byrd characterized his actions which helped victims of a motor vehicle accident in Colleton County, South Carolina.

“I’m nothing,” he said. “God used me and I give glory to Him.”

Pastor Byrd’s daughter personally witnessed the local car crash and went to her father for his help. Returning to the accident scene, Byrd saw a car in flames and an unconscious man inside. He spotted a small baseball bat near the wreckage and used it to bash in the sunroof, releasing smoke. Ultimately, with the help of another man, he was able to rescue the victim.

“It was like the hand of God reached around me and we began to pull him out,” said Byrd.

With man’s humble work and God’s divine help, small miracles can and do happen every day, if only we take the time to notice them.

I can do all things through Him who strengthens me. (Phil. 4:13)

Almighty Father, help us find courage in times of need.
