I’ve been doing some embroidery recently since it was something I could do while socializing during the holidays. This one is just an odd little project I made up with some scraps. Feeling a little worn down right now, hoping my energy comes back soon because I’ve still got to finish a bunch of christmas presents and make cookies let alone all the craft fair stuff I’d like to get done. I’ll leave you with a book to check out... Read more

I am grateful for Impromptu gravy dancing Out of tune singing comes together for a moment of generational beauty Crooked smiles in the early morning My hand beginning to show the signs of age holding young hands soft and delicate I am grateful for The dance of a longstanding teamwork Knowlege of an unfolding relationship The brief connections through a week of work and striving that give meaning to the day I am grateful for A soft and teary heart... Read more

I made this using a paper I created with kids tempera paint on construction paper. Remember when the art teacher showed how to make ink blot pictures by folding a paper in half? Well I just pressed one paper on top of the other. Then using my micron and white gel pen I just started making it a picture. It was like spotting pictures in clouds. Creating this piece was really very soothing, and I liked how it turned out.... Read more

It’s not done yet, I was hoping to turn the sketch into a painting, but since the easel’s been put away so the Christmas tree could go up I’m going to have to wait to paint it until later. For now I’m using my Micron pens again. This one actually has a name, unlike most of my sketches. I’m calling it The Giving Tree’s Daughter. My girls love that book but it’s always sad at the end. In other T-Day... Read more

I picked up a couple of illustration pens the other day and I’m really happy with them. So easy and so fun to work with. In other creative news, I’m starting work on the kids big Yule present. I’m making a playscape of the type described over at Rhythm of the Home. I’m using a bunch of felted sweaters to create the landscape, with a river, and a cave. I’m really liking how I can stuff parts of the landscape... Read more

So as Thankgiving edges closer and the Winter Holidays are on the horizion my thoughts turn toward warm fuzzies and gift giving. This project combines the two, using felted wool sweaters. I love these things! I pick them up at garage sales and thrift stores and a little while ago I snagged a bunch of them in a trade with my friend Lara. It’s been felt heaven! First you cut the sleeves off the sweater. Save them. Next week I’ll... Read more

Here’s a project that I’ve been working on. I just realized that I’ve made a goofy smiley face in the middle of it, so I’m considering a redesign… I’ve been so busy today, working hard. The 20 lbs. of saurkraut was finished fermenting in my unheated front room, so I pulled out my huge crock and filled up every container I could find with lovely golden crunchy kraut. I didn’t have anyone to take photos, so there’s no photographic evidence,... Read more

I’m so excited that I finally finished my matryoshka print! I’m looking forward to experimenting with it, and I’m planning on making some cards with it to have in my etsy store this weekend. Read more

I really enjoyed making this print, both the monoprint and the linocut. I’m thinking of printing two more beetles above the first in different colors. The long format was really interesting to play with, though I don’t know what to do with it once it’s done. Read more
