The situation is slightly more complex than the author acknowledges, but this essay is fundamentally right, and it’s a powerful and appropriate rebuke to a certain class of people out there who’re bent on stirring up ignorant hatred for and distrust of Muslims everywhere, including their own neighbors:

Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn knew evil and gross injustice up close, personally.  This insightful comment of his should never be forgotten:

“If only it were all so simple! If only there were evil people somewhere insidiously committing evil deeds, and it were necessary only to separate them from the rest of us and destroy them. But the line dividing good and evil cuts through the heart of every human being. And who is willing to destroy a piece of his own heart?”  (The Gulag Archipelago 1918-1956)
