One anonymous Mormon-background blogger, plainly upset and irritated by John Gee’s posts regarding the Bible’s relationship to actual ancient history, decided to post a response.  (In his defense, it must be said that this could well be the most substantive and relevant response of which he’s capable.)

 

Dr. Gee, some of whose credentials as of five years ago can be seen here,  replied here.

 

As for my part, I simply call attention to this item, from the most recent annual national meeting of the Society of Biblical Literature, which was held in San Diego in November 2014, and which I attended:
