Personally, I would love to see a direct, civil, substantive exchange between the two.
For one thing, I think there’s been some equivocating and miscommunication, and I would really like to see things cleared up. Though I could be wrong on this, it seems to me that some areas of apparent disagreement may not actually reflect real differences, and it would be helpful to identify where the actual divergences are. We should work to achieve clarity regarding what seem to be — though, given the miscommunication, may or may not really be — issues of vital importance.
I offered to host such a discussion in the pages of Interpreter, and to moderate it — using that term, moderate, in its fullest sense — but, to my acute regret, not everybody was on board for such an attempt.
