I confess that I find Marco Rubio (see here for an interesting profile of him) a very attractive possibility for a national Republican ticket — not least because he speaks fluent Spanish and because, being young and energetic, he would make Mrs. Clinton look like the kind of archaeological relic that ISIS would feel an urgent need to dynamite.

And, although I also quite liked Bob Bennett (based, to some extent, on impressive and memorable personal experiences with him), I’m very proud of Mike Lee, too.  (On Senator Lee, see this interesting article from a national magazine.)  In fact, a friend and I had lunch with Mike Lee at Provo’s Brick Oven restaurant back when he was still debating whether or not to challenge Senator Bennett for the Republic nomination.  I was friendly and sympathetic; my friend was enthusiastic, urging him forward.  (I’m sure that that lunch was the crucial factor in his ultimate decision.)
