“Was There an Exodus?”

Having followed recent intra-LDS online disputes about scriptural historicity, my Evangelical friend Paul Owen called my attention, in an email yesterday, to this exceptionally interesting article by an Israeli professor:

This morning, Louis Vottero posted a link to it on Facebook.

I’m grateful to them.  It’s an extraordinarily interesting piece that I highly recommend, with all sorts of relevance to the question of how seriously the scriptures should be taken as historical sources and — apologies to both Professor Owen and the article’s author, Professor Berman, for this application, which they wouldn’t make — to discussions about the historicity of the Book of Mormon.
