My Deseret News column for last Thursday pointed out that “real archaeology bears little resemblance to an Indiana Jones movie.”

 

That’s true, of course.

 

But a new exhibit at the museum of the National Geographic Society in Washington DC  illustrates a few of the connections that do exist between those movies and contemporary archaeology:
