Massacio painting of the Trinity
Masaccio’s “The Trinity” (painted between 1425 and the artist’s death at twenty-seven in 1428), situated in the Church of Santa Maria Novella, Florence
The Father stands, entirely naturalistically, behind the Son, while the Holy Spirit is represented by a white dove. The three are quite distinct.

Someone brought this item to my attention a few days ago, but, to my shame, I can’t remember who it was.  So I offer my thanks — vaguely, in all directions — in case the person who deserves them happens to be reading.

A mainstream Christian author expresses some reservations about orthodox Nicene Trinitarianism, while still clearly wanting it to be true and worrying about whether it’s being distorted:

Not to worry.  I’ll shortly finish my revisions to an article that I’ve written on the doctrine of the Trinity for Interpreter: A Journal of Mormon Scripture that, when it’s finally published, will put an end to centuries of error, end all debates, clarify all ambiguities, allay all doubts, settle all disputes, and convince everybody.
