My wife has been in Newport Beach, California, relaxing and spending time with family and friends. One of my sons is living in Santa Fe, New Mexico; I spoke with him tonight. Another is visiting Japan with his wife, where they participated in a friend’s wedding. (That son served his mission in Japan; my daughter-in-law was an exchange student in Japan; their shared interest in things Japanese was their initial point of contact.) Another son is back in Richmond, Virginia, tending their house and watching over my grand dogs.
So it’s good to have friends here.
I’ve been busy with classes, but I also attended an excellent dress rehearsal of BYU’s new production of Jules Massenet’s opera Manon with friends visiting from Indiana. I spent a day up at the Parliament of the World’s Religions in Salt Lake City with a friend visiting from Florida. And, last night, I joined with other neighbors at the home of friends down the street to hear a presentation from my friend Royal Skousen about his decades of meticulous work on the textual history of the Book of Mormon.
Have I mentioned that life is good?
