An irrelevant but serene image from a place that I love

I know a pair of relatively young Muslim parents from Egypt who studied at BYU and who have chosen to remain to live and work in Utah. I think very highly of them. They’re fine people, gentle and good people, and assets to our valley.
I’ve just learned that a fellow student at the school that their (cute) little girl attends recently called their daughter a “terrorist.”
The family are upset. And I’m ashamed that such a thing happened in my community.
People can be ignorant. Children can be cruel.
But I hope that the school authorities do something about this.
I don’t ask that the offending girl be punished. Still, I hope that she (and perhaps, if necessary, her parents?) can be brought to understand how hurtful and marginalizing such comments and attitudes can be — and that this won’t happen again.
