“To be natural is such a very difficult pose to keep up.”
Oscar Wilde
My wife and I headed out to a local movie house this evening to see a broadcast of David Suchet performing (at the Vaudeville Theatre in London) in Oscar Wilde’s The Importance of Being Earnest, from which the quotation above was taken. (The play is a personal favorite; Oscar Wilde was a genius, and my wife once played the role of Gwendolen Fairfax.)
Alas, though, there had been technical difficulties, and the play was unable to be shown.
Quite disappointing.
However, the theater was very generous, giving us (among other things) free tickets to a movie there tonight.
So we took in The Martian, with Matt Damon, which we quite enjoyed — not least for its spectacular “Martian” landscapes, filmed in Jordan’s Wadi Rum.
