Linda Stasi, writing in the New York Daily News, has taken American opinion journalism to a remarkable new low:

Fourteen people were killed by two radical Islamist murderers in San Bernardino last week.
But she recognizes only thirteen innocent victims.
The fourteenth, Nicholas Thalasinos, essentially deserved what he got, she suggests. If he had only been able to gather the guns and explosives that the two actual murderers had accumulated, she insinuates, he would happily have done what they in fact did do.
And Ms. Stasi, who abundantly deserves to be fired for writing such a column, is saying these things just days after he was gunned down, while his widow is still freshly in mourning, before he’s even been buried.
What were Mr. Thalasinos’s sins? He was very pro-Israel. He was vocally critical of radical Islam. He liked Ann Coulter. He opposed government subsidies for Planned Parenthood. He supported the National Rifle Association.
Ms. Stasi can, accordingly, see essentially no difference between him and the two ISIS operatives who murdered him, and she declines to consider him an innocent victim of radical Islamist jihad.
For the sake of sheer human decency, the New York Daily News should terminate its connection with Linda Stasi.
